Uretrocele - our short experience

SELVAKUMAR MARIAPPAN.K

Abstract

Ureterocele is a cystic dilatation of the
lower end of the ureter where it joins the
epithelium of the lower Urinary tract. In
this series, we share our experience with
3 cases of Ureterocele treated in our department
over last 6 months with selective
cystoscopic incision.Case Report
110 days old male child presented with
antenatally detected partial pelviureteric
junction obstruction with hydronephrosis
on left side. Postnatal USG showed left
bifid collecting system with upper moiety
hydronephrosis and ureterocele. Voiding
cystourethrogram showed no reflux. Radionuclide
scan showed adequate cortical
function. On cystoscopy intravesical
ureterocele was noted which was treated
with selective incision with bugbee electrode
over medial base.Case Report 2 3
months old male child presented with
mass over left lumbar region and on further
evaluation showed gross hydronephrosis
of left kidney with ureterocele.
Voiding cystourethrogram showed
no reflux. Radionuclide scan showed
adequate function
On cystoscopy - intravesical ureterocele
was noted and treated with incision and
decompression with bugbee electrode.
Case Report 32 days old female child
presented with history of antenatally detected
right sided renal anomaly. Postnatal
USG showed right sided hydroureteronephrosis.
Voiding cystourethrogram
showed no reflux. Repeat USG at 1 month
of age showed right gross hydroureteronephrosis
with ureterocele.Radionuclide
scan showed function of 35 on right side.
On cystoscopy -intravesical ureterocele
was noted . Vertical incision with bugbee
electrode was made over medial base and
ureterocele decompressed.Endoscopic
treatment provided an effective option for
non refluxing, salvageable systems in treatment
of ureteroceles.
