MUCINOUS CARCINOMA OF DESCENDING COLON A CASE REPORT

ARUL RAJ KUMAR

Abstract

Mucinous adenocarcinoma is one of the
histological subtypes of colorectal cancer.
Mucinous colorectal adenocarcinomas
comprise approximately 1 to 6 percent
of all colorectal epithelial cancers.
Frequently they are more advanced at
diagnosis and have a poorer prognosis
than non mucinous colorectal adenocarcinomas
. Here 25 yrs male presented
with features of intestinal obstruction and
exploratory laparotomy and transverse
loop colostomy was done.subsequently
left hemicolectomy was done for growth
in the descending colon. We are presenting
this case for its rare site of presentation
and its aggressive nature of the tumour.
