A RARE CASE OF KRANENBURG SYNDROME -A CASE REPORT

JULIANA ROSITTA STEPHEN

Abstract

Optic disc pit is a rare congenital anomaly. It is often associated with serous macular detachment which is described as Kranenburg syndrome. It is usually included as a part of a spectrum of congenital disc anomalies including the morning glory syndrome, juxtapapillary staphyloma and optic disc coloboma. The mean age at the time of onset of detachment is 30 years. Larger pits and temporally location appear to be predisposing factors to the development of      detachment. We present a 33 year old man with complaints of defective vision.
