ANEURYSMAL BONE CYST MIMICKING SECONDARIES IN DORSAL SPINE A CASE REPORT

SUNIL .

Abstract

Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a benign bone lesion and commonly affects females and seen in second decade. It usually grows rapidly with hypervascularity. In the spine, it can cause extensive bone destruction and compress neural structures with eventual vertebral collapse. Operative management of such a lesion may be complicated by profuse hemorrhage . Herein, we report a 35-year-old female who presented with backache and complete paraplegia . She was diagnosed as a case of Potts spine based on MRI and started on ATT prior to admission . Patient was diagnosed as a case of Secondaries dorsal spine and planned for curettage , transpedicular decompression and stabilization using Moss Miami system. Surgery was complicated by profuse                intraoperative bleeding, making decompression difficult and stabilization of the vertebral column was done and                     decompression done using ligamentotaxis . Biopsy suggested ABC . Patient was put on radiotherapy postoperatively. At the 1 month follow-up examination, her backache was relieved and patient improved neurologically.
