A case report of carcinoid of appendix presenting as intussusception
Abstract
Abstract : Intussusception of appendix is a rare occurrence.due to the similarity of the symptoms with appendicitis ,pre-operative diagnosis of such condition is difficult. Our case of carcinoid of appendix presents with intussusception of appendix and terminal ileum into the caecum, ascending colon and transverse colon, patient also has diarrhoea for 2 yrs before presenting as intussusception which doesnot respond to medical management. Incidence of intussusceptions in adult is 5 of total cases, appendix intussusception is only 0.01.carcinoid of appendix is only 0.3-0.9. As such case is a rare occurence we are presenting this case.
