DISTRACTION OSTEOGENESIS FOR HYPOPLASTIC MANDIBLE-CASE REPORTS

VIVEK VIVEK

Abstract

Distraction osteogenesis, an established
technique used by orthopedic surgeons
to repair long bone defects has gained
acceptance for correction of various craniofacial
deformities.Two cases of
postTMJ ankylosis with facial asymmetry
and hypoplastic mandible was treated by
distraction osteogenesis.With more experience
this technique is becoming an
essential tool in cranio facial surgeons
armamentarium.
