MULTIPLE FIBROMATOSIS IN THE LOWER LIMB-A RARE CASE STUDY

GOWTHAMAN GOWTHAMAN

Abstract

Abstract : Fibromatosis is a disorder characterised by a
spectrum of biological behaviour from relative indolence to
aggressive local infiltration. Though local recurrences are
common with fibromatosis, very few cases of synchronous
lesions were ever reported . Here we present a case of
bicentric fibromatosis in a 34 year old otherwise healthy male
in the left lower thigh and upper leg encasing the
neurovascular bundles mimicking a neural origin tumour. The
lesions were dissected out without sacrificing any
neurovascular structures and without any postoperative
neurovascular deficit, though pre-operative imaging revealed
a complete encasement of the popliteal and posteriortibial
vessels by the upper and lower masses respectively.
