RHINOMAXILLARY MUCORMYCOSIS - A CASE REPORT

Abstract


Abstract : Mucormycosis is an opportunistic fungal
infection caused by saprophytic fungi of class zygomycetes
and order mucorales. The most common form is rhinocerebral
mucormycosis and usually seen in immunocompromised
individuals. We report a case of rhinomaxillary mucormycosis
with palatal perforation in a known type II diabetes mellitus
patient. Our goal is to emphasize prompt diagnosis and
appropriate management of this condition with wide surgical
debridement which gives a good result .
