Tubulointerstitial nephritis with uveitis syndrome A CASE REPORT
Abstract
Tubulointerstitial nephritis and
uveitis (TINU) syndrome was first described
in 1975 by Dobrin. It is usually
seen in children and young adults females
are affected more often than
males. The nephritis usually precedes
the uveitis, although simultaneous onset
of both organs has been described. Patients
usually present with systemic signs
and symptoms including fatigue, malaise,
anorexia, abdominal pain, fever and
anaemia. The acute renal dysfunction is
due to nephritis and typically resolves
spontaneously or responds favourably to
systemic steroid therapy. However,
cases of nephrotic syndrome, relapsing
nephritis and development of chronic renal
failure, despite the use of systemic
steroids and other immunosuppressants
(chlorambucil and cyclophosphamide),
have also been reported. A few patients
eventually require dialysis Keyword :Key
