RANIL JOHANN BOAZ

Abstract

Meckels diverticulum is the most commonly
encountered congenital anomaly
of thegastrointestinal tract. The presentation
of a symptomatic diverticulum to the
surgeon is a rare entity.More than half of
all symptomatic diverticula present in the
pediatric age group. In keeping with-
Mayos aphorism though often tendered
as a diagnosis for the acute abdomen in
adults, it is seldomfound to be causal.
While there are reports of complications
of the diverticulum in pregnancy, there
isno record of such events in the postpartum
period. We report a case of perforated
Meckelsdiverticulum in a young
postpartum woman with a brief review of
current literature.
