A Rare Case Of Non - functional Adrenal Pheochromocytoma Presenting As Incidentaloma

Abstract


55 year old female, was evaluated for
dysuria. An ultrasonogram of abdomen
was taken, which showed a left intrarenal
calculi and a mass over the upper pole of
Right Kidney. There were no symptoms
suggestive of a functional adrenal tumour.
General and systemic examinations
were within normal limits. Routine
hematological and biochemical examinations
were normal. Biochemical tests for
functioning adrenal neoplasm were
negative. CT scan of the abdomen
showed an adrenal neoplasm measuring
6.98cm and 6.22cm, possibly pheochromocytoma
or malignancy. Laparotomy
and right Adrenalectomy was done. Biopsy
report was consistent with Pheochromocytoma.
Pheochromocytoma accounts
for only for around 4, majority of it
is functioning even in the absence of
clinical symptoms. Nonfunctioning adrenal
Pheochromocytoma is a rare cause
incidentaloma.
