A RARE CASE OF GALLBLADDER MELANOMA WITH GASTROJEJUNAL METASTASIS

BHARATH GURU

Abstract

Malignant melanoma of the gall bladder
is an extremely rare presentation. Malignant
melanoma is the commonest tumor
with metastasises to the gastrointestinal
tract particularly the stomach and small
bowel. The prevalence of malignant
melanoma in the gastrointestinal tract
without any evidence of a primary lesion
in the skin or any other site is extremely
rare. Here we report a rare case of malignant
melanoma involving the gall bladder,
jejunum and stomach. The patient
underwent laparotomy with cholecystectomy
and resection of the jejunal metastasis
following which adjuvant therapy
was given.
