Management of a Complicated Giant Duodenal perforation-A case report
Abstract
Perforated duodenal ulcers are frequently
encountered surgical emergencies.
Most of the perforations are less
than 1cm size.Rarely giant perforations
are encountered. In comparison with the
usual perforations, these large sized perforations
pose a great challenge to the
treating surgeon because they need a
different operative strategy and are associated
with a higher morbidity. We report
our experience in the management of a
case of Giant Duodenal perforation and
its complications. This article is presented
to emphasize on the various surgical
strategies available in the management
of such perforations and the vital
role of nutritional and nursing care in
such patients.
