Case Report- Mitotically Active Cellular Fibroma of Ovary with Meig’s Syndrome

SANDHIYA R AND SARASWATHY .

Abstract

Meig’s syndrome is defined as the association of ascites, pleural effusion and a benign solid ovarian tumour usually a fibroma. Meig’s syndrome is rare in women under 30 year of age and even more if associated with mitotic   activity .The clinicopathologic characteristic of mitotically  active cellular fibroma is significantly different from the     malignant behavior of ovarian fibrosarcoma. Therefore, it’s very important to differentiate mitotically active cellular     fibroma from ovarian fibrosarcoma. The case described here is about a 19 year old girl who presented with abdominal mass.
