A study of case series of the Adrenal diseases in the Department of Endocrine Surgery in Madras Medical College. This study is a retrospective study of 30 patients (19 females and 11 males) who were in our department with adrenal diseases. 24 patients were diagnosed as benign adrenal disease and 6 patients had malignant adrenal disease. 10 patients were diagnosed as pheochromocytoma, 6 patients as adrenal cortical carcinoma, 4 patients with primary hyperaldosteronism, 3 patients with adrenal adenoma, 2 patients with bilateral adrenal hyperplasia, 2 patients with extra adrenal pheochromocytoma, 2 patients with adrenal incidentaloa and 1 patient with adrenal myelolipoma. 23 patients underwent surgery and 7 patients were managed conservatively with medicines. 19 patients had right adrenalectomy and 4 patients had left adrenalectomy. 21 patients underwent open adrenalectomy and two patients had laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Patients presenting with hypertension, headache, generalised muscle weakness, virilisation symptoms (female patients), abdomen pain, should be examined completely and necessary investigations to be done. So that adrenal disease can be diagnosed earlier and curative treatment can be given.
