Pigmented conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma mimicking conjunctival melanoma - a case report

KANMANI M

Abstract

Squamous cell carcinoma of conjunctiva is a rare neoplasm. Its incidence is 0.02-0.03 per 100000 population, among which pigmented conjunctival squamous cell  carcinoma SCC is very rare. It occurs at the corneoscleral limbus, spreads over the surface and fornix and rarely  penetrates the globe. Pigmented SCC is often misdiagnosed as malignant melanoma clinically. Differentiation will be possible only after histopathological examination. Here we are presenting a case of pigmented SCC of conjunctiva for its rarity.
