Obturator Schwannoma, a rare peripheral nerve sheath tumor
Abstract
Schwannomas are peripheral nerve tumors originating from the Schwann nerve sheath cells, commonly seen in the extremities. Retroperitoneal Schwannomas are rare(1). We present here the management of a case of Schwannoma arising from Obturator nerve. The most common presenting manifestation is a large space-occupying lesion responsible for compression of neighbouring structures. Treatment is excision of the tumor in toto with maximum effort to preserve the nerve function.
