BENIGN CYSTIC TERATOMA OF OVARY INFILTRATING THE BLADDER

MANJU A

Abstract

Dermoid cysts are well differentiated germ cell tumours developing from all 3 germ cell layers. Though they are benign tumours with good prognosis, they have rarely been found to have the capacity to infiltrate neighbouring organs. They are usually unilocular cysts. The characteristics of dermoid cysts can now assessed through various imaging modalities like USG and CT. Infiltration can be better            assessed by endoscopic methods. They are tumours with a good prognosis though infiltration will prove to be a challenge, to remove it surgically. In such cases, surgery should be done by a team of specialists.
