CARCINOMA CERVIX WITH OVARIAN DERMOID - A RARE COEXISTENCE

KOKILAVANI M

Abstract

A 55 years old post menopausal diabetic woman presented with profuse white discharge and bleeding per vagina on off for 3 months. Abdominal examination revealed an ill-defined mobile mass measuring 12x8 cm occupying left iliac and hypogastric regions. Pelvic examination showed friable growth in cervix with parametrial involvement on both sides. Ultrasound and CT Abdomen was suggestive of left ovarian mass most likely a dermoid cyst and cervical biopsy was reported as moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Excision of dermoid cyst with bilateral  salphingooophrectomy was done leaving the uterus as            associated advanced cancer cervix was not amenable for radical hysterectomy. Post-operatively patient received six cycles of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel combination  chemotherapy, 25 fractions of 45Gy external beam  radiotherapy to whole pelvis and 3 fractions of intra-cavitary brachytherapy. She tolerated the treatment well and on  regular follow up. We are presenting this case to report the occurrence of ovarian dermoid in post menopausal age which is rare and its co-existence with squamous cell carcinoma of cervix and its multimodality treatment protocol.
