A RARE CASE OF SPONTANEOUS OVARIAN HETEROTOPIC PREGNANCY

CHANDRA VADHANA K

Abstract

Heterotopic pregnancy is a condition where both an intrauterine and ectopic pregnancy coexists. Ovarian  heterotopic pregnancy constitutes only 2.3 percent of all  heterotopic pregnancies. A 29 year old G2P1L1 who  conceived spontaneously was admitted with abdominal           distension and vomiting. Ultrasound was done and a diagnosis of heterotopic pregnancy was made and she was managed by laparotomy and left oophorectomy. The  intrauterine pregnancy progressed to term and she delivered a healthy male baby. Early diagnosis and timely intervention are needed for a favourable obstetric outcome.
