Neglected posterior dislocation of hip with head of femur fracture managed by primary total hip arthroplasty-case report

Abstract

Title-Neglected posterior dislocation of hip with head of femur fracture managed by primary total hip arthroplasty case report Background-Neglected posterior dislocation of hip with head of femur fracture and varus fixed knee deformity with severe osteoarthritis is a very rare entity. We present a case report of one such case. Materials and Methods-65 year male was admitted with history of self fall and sustaining injury to right hip 3 months back. Patient was a known case of psoriasis and osteoarthritis of ipsilateral knee joint. After reviewing radiographs, CT scan and MRI patient was diagnosed with neglected posterior dislocation of hip with head of femur fracture with ipsilateral stiff knee with varus deformity. An uncemented THR was done by posterior             approach to hip. Results-At 6 month followup patient was independently ambulatory with Harris Hip Score of 82. Total knee arthroplasty is planned for the patient. Discussion-Total hip replacement in neglected dislocation of hip and post           traumatic arthritic and dysplastic hip is a good option.
