Case Report of Osteoblastoma of the patella-A Rare presentation

SANTHOSH KUMAR G

Abstract

Osteoblastoma is a rare benign tumour. Even more rare is the location of the tumor in patella. A 24-year-old gentleman presented with pain in knee for four years and progressive swelling of patella for one year. He had uniform, warm, tender swelling of the patella. His range of motion was up to 110 degrees. Radiographs showed an osteolytic lesion in patella, with reactive new bone formation. An open biopsy showed osteoblastoma for which he was treated with  patellectomy succesfully. At five year follow up,the patient was asymptomatic with painless functional range of  movement at the knee joint.
