PANCREATIC PSEUDOANEURYSM RUPTURE - SPLENIC SUBCAPSULAR HAEMATOMA - A RARE CASE OF CHRONIC PANCREATITIS SEQUELAE

CHINNI VIKRAM A

Abstract

Pancreatic pseudoaneurysm rupture with splenic subcapsular hematoma is a rare entity in medical literature. Pseudoaneuryms may occur as a sequel of enzymatic             digestion of vessel wall with pancreatic enzymes. The splenic complications associated with recurrent pancreatitis are rare, including splenic vein thrombosis, arterial pseudoaneurysm, subcapsular splenic hematoma, and splenic rupture. We herein report a rare case of our institution who presented in emergency with abdomen pain, pallor, hypovolemic shock complicating acute on chronic pancreatitis was investigated and operated to have found splenic artery pseudo-aneurysm ruptured into splenic hilum with sub capsular hematoma, which was successfully treated by celiotomy. Reports in        literature of such presentations are hardly known.
