A RARE CLINICAL VARIANT OF BASAL CELL CARCINOMA-PIGMENTED BCC OF FACE MIMICKING MALIGNANT MELANOMA - REPORT OF TWO CASES

VINOTH KUMAR D

Abstract

Pigmented basal cell carcinoma is a rare clinical variant of basal cell carcinoma which shows increased  pigmentation with frequency of 6 of total cases of BCC. In this type melanin is produced by melanocytes that colonizes the tumor and located in the melanophages located in the stroma. Clinically it mimics melanoma and has to be differentiated by biopsy. This subtype of BCC is more commonly found in  hispaniac population. Intermittent exposure to UV radiation is an important risk factor. Herein, I am reporting 2 cases of pigmented basal cell carcinoma of face.
