Abstract

TITLE Acute small intestinal obstruction due to mesodiverticular band of meckels diverticulum-a case report. Abstract Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital anomaly of the small intestine. Common complications related to a meckel's diverticulum include haemorrhage, intestinal obstruction, and inflammation. Acute small intestinal   obstruction is one of the most common surgical emergencies. It is caused by a wide variety of pathological causes and meckels diverticulum as a cause is rare. Moreover, small bowel obstruction due to mesodiverticular band of Meckel's diverticulum is a rare complication. Herein, we report the  diagnosis and management of a small bowel obstruction   occurring due to mesodiverticular band of a meckel's  diverticulum. Case report A 38yr old male admitted with the complaints of abdominal pain for the past 3 days, abdominal distention and constipation for the past 2 days and vomiting for the past 1 day. On examination abdomen showed   generalised distension and diffuse tenderness was elicited. Bowel sounds were exaggerated. X ray abdomen erect showed dilated bowel loops with multiple air fluid levels. Plain ct abdomen confirmed the same. Emergency laparotomy was proceeded and found to have mesodiverticular band                  extending from the ileal mesentery to the meckels                   diverticulum with looping in of ileal loops beneath it seen. Diverticular band release with resectionanastamosis done. Post operative period was uneventful.
