An unusual case of Traumatic Partial Avulsion of Optic Nerve with blow out fracture.

Abstract

A 23 year old male patient admitted with history of fall by himself from 2 wheeler. Following trauma the patient complained of sudden loss of vision and pain in RE. Tenderness of all the orbital margins was noted on palpation. Right eye examination revealed restriction of elevation, mild restriction of adduction and depression. Fundus examination showed retinal hemorrhage in peripapillary region with             vitreous hemorrhage, arteriolar narrowing, and posterior pole edema with pale posterior pole. Visual field analysis could not be done as the patient had only perception of light in RE. We herein present this case of multiple orbital wall fracture with traumatic optic nerve avulsion diagnosed by B-scan                ultrasonography and fundus evaluation supplemented with CT and MRI findings.
