MESENTERIC LEIOMYOMA

THIRUMANIKANDAN PL LOGANATHAN

Abstract

Leiomyoma of mesentery is rare, with few cases reported in literature. Here we present a case of 60 year old female who presented with an abdominal lump of one month duration. Examination revealed a dumb bell shaped firm mass felt in lower abdomen with remarkable mobility. Imaging  studies identified it as tumour of mesenteric origin. Elective laparotomy was done. Intraoperatively a mass of 15x12x8 cm was found to be arising from the leaves of jejunal mesentery 20 cm distal to duodenojejunal flexure. Tumour was resected along with portion of jejunum. Specimen was histologically diagnosed as leiomyoma of mesentery.
