Abstract

Papillary transitional cell carcinoma of cervix is extremely rare. Invasive squamous cell carcinoma is the most common variety of invasive cancer in the cervix. Pappilary transitional cell carcinoma of cervix is one of the very rare histopathological variant of ca cervix. They often resemble trasitional cell carcinoma of urinary tract. Immunoprofile of this tumor supports mullerian rather than urothelial origin. Tumor is derived from undifferentiated stem cells in endocervix. Very aggressive than conventional Squamous cell CA of cervix. It has poor prognosis. Recurrence rate is high. This tumor is highly radiotherapy sensitive. We report a case of 65 years old postmenopausal women para four, living four, who presented with complaints of blood stained vaginal discharge which was foul smelling. Usg abdomen pelvis showed features of endometrial hyperplasia with endocervical lesion around 2 cm. hence diagnostic hysteroscopy and endometrial and endocervical curettage was done which revealed               papillary transitional cell carcinoma of cervix. CT scan done showed endocervical lesion measuring around 2 cm. patient was staged to be stage Ib1 of grade 2, Patient is undergoing brachytherapy.
