LYMPHOMA MASQUERADING AS INVASIVE FUNGAL SINUSITIS

MARIE CHRISTY SHARAFINE S STEPHENNATARAJAN

Abstract

Natural Killer (NK) T cell lymphoma of the nose and the paranasal sinuses is one of the uncommon  presentations of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The angiocentricity with rapidly worsening clinical profiles carry a bad prognosis to the treatment outcomes. It needs to be borne in mind as one of the many differentials when             considering locally invasive diseases of the head and neck region. Known for its myriad of uncommon presentations, it mimics other etiologies many a time and adds to the    diagnostic dilemma besides delaying diagnosis. In this regard, we report a young gentleman who presented with features suggestive of a rapidly worsening and locally invasive    sinusitis with oronasal fistula in the guise of an invasive fungal disease, the diagnostic arrow then pointed towards lymphoma only on histopathology on repeated attempts.
