PANDIYAN V VADIVEL

Abstract

Littres hernia is presence of meckels diverticulum in hernia sac as content . It is observed in inguinal femoral hernia. Meckels diverticulum is a congenital anomaly of the gastro-intestinal tract. It is part of the unobliterated proximal portion of the vitello-intestinal duct. It is occurs in less than 2 of population. It is usually asymptomatic and frequently        occurs in small bowel particularly in the terminal ileum. Here, we present a case of 58 years old woman who presented with a swelling in the left inguinal region and fever for 10 days. There was pain over the swelling and discolouration of skin for 1 week. Examination and investigations led to a                 provisional diagnosis of a necrotizing fasciitis of anterior  abdominal wall. After opening the skin, subcutaneous tissue, external oblique, we found perforated meckels diverticulum. This case is being presented because of the rare presentation of meckels diverticulum in this scenario.
