Tuberculous pulmonary lesions mimicking metastasis in Renal cell carcinoma

BENEDICT PAUL SAMUEL

Abstract

Tuberculosis is an endemic disease in India. It is often called the great mimic and pulmonary lesions in patients with carcinomas can cause diagnostic and prognostic  confusion. We describe a case, incidentally diagnosed to have renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in whom tuberculosis lesions mimicked pulmonary metastasis, along with a review of  literature. Co-existing tuberculosis infection in patients with malignancies needs careful pre operative evaluation and preparation for a successful outcome.
