COMBINED CENTRAL RETINAL ARTERY AND VEIN OCCLUSION IN A CASE OF SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS

Abstract

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a chronic   autoimmune multisystem disease. In eye it affects various parts of eyes gives rise to varied presentation. Very rarely and in very serious form it may cause combined central retinal artery and venous occlusion resulting in severe visual loss which is refractory to treatment. It may further progress to neovasular glaucoma secondary to neovascularisation of iris and angle structures.In SLE with raised antiphospholipid     antigen concentrations there is more risk of retinal vaso  occlusive disorders. It is still more rare if such vaso occulsive disorder presenting without raise of anti phospholipid antigen concentration. Here case history of a young female with    similar presentation is being presented due to the rarity and severity of the condition.
