Abstract

AIM one-stage reconstruction of exenterated orbit with vascularized temporalis muscle flap in a case of recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of eyelid is presented in this case report. The anatomical characteristics of the temporalis muscle flap orbital exenteration are discussed. METHODS Ayappan 62 M, presented with ulcero proliferative growth in the RT side of nose upper eye lid during 2004 . Biopsy Moderately differentiated Squamous cell Ca. On 2932004- Wide local excision reconstruction done with       Median forehead flap Cheek rotation flap. 2007-patient             developed recurrence in the root of nose .Then the patient lost follow-up for 5 years. Patient got operated                             elsewhere ,details not known. Now he presented with               recurrence of SCC in the Right inner canthus. The patient was operated for malignancy recurrence of the upper eyelid inner canthus during july 2014. He underwent orbital                 exenteration medial maxillectomy. The defect was            reconstructed with lateral orbitotomy , temporalis muscle flap SSG . RESULTS The reconstruction gave good filling effect and isolation of the orbit from the neighbouring nasal meatuses and cranial cavity were obtained using vascularized temporalis muscle flap SSG.CONCLUSION The vascularized muscle flap appears a single stage reliable technique and the method of choice in the reconstruction of orbital exenteration.
