Gaint cell tumor of Tendon sheath causing bony erosion-a case report.

JEYA VENKATESH P PALANISWAMY

Abstract

Giant Cell Tumour of Tendon Sheath (GCTTS) is a benign tumour arising from the synovium of the tendon sheath, common sites being hand and feet. It presents as painless and slow growing swelling, causing pressure effects on adjacent bone. This is a case of solitary swelling over the dorsum of thumb, which on further investigation revealed it to be GCTTS arising from the Extensor tendon causing bony erosion of proximal phalanx. Complete excision of tumour was done. Postoperatively patient had good functional outcome and the bony erosion healed completely on follow up.
