A rare case report of intravantricular meningioma
Abstract
INTRODUCTION-Primary intraventricular meningiomas are rare with an incidence of 0.5 to 3 percent among all intracranial meningiomas. They commonly present with symptoms and signs of raised intracranial pressure. Surgery forms the mainstay of treatment. METHOD-Case report RESULTS-A 30 yr old female presented with complaints of throbbing headache and vomiting for 3 months duration and two episodes of seizures. MRI brain showed features of dilated ventricles and intraventricular SOL. Patient underwent right temporoparietal craniotomy and excision of SOL. Postop MRI showed residual disease. So she received post-op irradiation of 54 GY. CONCLUSION Among meningiomas intraventricular location is very rare. Post operative irradiation after less than complete resection improves local control and prolongs the interval to recurrence. This case is presented for its rarity.
