PHIBATLAIDOR H TARIANG

Abstract

Insular carcinoma also known as poorly differentiated carcinoma of thyroid occurs rarely. It is described with more aggressive behaviour, poorer prognosis and higher mortality than well differentiated thyroid carcinoma, tend to recur locally and develop metastasis to regional lymph nodes. The term poorly differentiated carcinoma was suggested for the group of thyroid carcinomas with intermediate features between Well differentiated Thyroid carcinoma and Anaplastic       carcinoma .Incidence is less than 1 to 10 percent. Here we  present a case of 68 Years old female presented with neck mass for 4 months. FNAC showed follicular neoplasm. Near Total Thyroidectomy with Neck dissection was done- larger lobe showed gray white nodular and fleshy areas with haemorrhagic and necrotic areas. Smaller lobe shows colloid filled nodule and gray white nodule. HPE shows features of Insular Carcinoma of Thyroid.
