RECURRENT CUBITUS VARUS DEFORMITY TREATED BY MODIFIED FRENCH OSTEOTOMY-A CASE REPORT
Abstract
Cubitus varus is the most common complication of supracondylar fracture of the humerus in children. Lateral closed wedge (LCW) osteotomy is a commonly accepted method of correction. The fixation of osteotomy is required to prevent loss of correction. A 13yr old child presented in our institute with cubitus varus deformity due to supracondylar fracture with carrying angle of 15 degree varus . Patient already underwent FRENCH OSTEOTOMY for cubitus varus deformity of the same limb at the age of 10 years. HENCE The deformity was corrected using MODIFIED FRENCH OSTEOTOMY. The result of corrective surgery even in recurrent case is satisfactory with carrying angle is 12 degree valgus. Even though various osteotomy procedures are available, Modified French method proves to a safer one with acceptable results.
