A RARE CASE OF PREGNANCY IN ONE HORN AND HEMATOMETRA IN THE RUDIMENTARY HORN OF UNICORNUATE UTERUS
Abstract
Hematometra in non-communicating rudimentary horn with pregnancy in the other horn is a rare event. This is a case report of a pregnant woman in early weeks of gestation presenting with acute abdominal pain and was diagnosed to have hematometra in the rudimentary horn. It was drained under ultrasound guidance and pregnancy successfully continued. Unicornuate uterus with non-communicating rudimentary horn is susceptible to many gynecological and obstetric complications which can occur at any stage of reproductive life (Heinonen PK 1983)1. To reduce its serious complications in future, early diagnosis and resection of rudimentary horn is of utmost importance. 1
