PRIMARY HEMOCHROMATOSIS- PRESENTED BY DKA- A CASE REPORT

JEFFREDLEENE .

Abstract

We present a 26 year old male who initially was admitted with an unconscious state with hypovolumic shock with fever presented by bout of vomiting. His blood sugar level was very high and urine was positive for acetone bodies. Diabetic KetoAcidosis (DKA) was managed successfully. The detailed examination revealed he was found to have pallor white nails, pigmented tongue, diffuse hyperpigmentation over palm, nail, and mucosa pigmentation, hypogonadism with absent secondary sexual characteristics, testicular atrophy, arthritis involving major joints. MRI abdomen, skin biopsy suggest primary hemochromatosis.
