CROWN ON HEAD - A DIAGNOSTIC CHALLENGE
Abstract
Abstract : Lupus vulgaris is a chronic progressive post
primary, pauci bacillary form of cutaneous tuberculosis with
moderate or high immunity. Atypical clinical presentations
depend on host immunity and leads to difficulty in diagnosis
and treatment. A 55year old male with skin lesions over the
scalp diagnosed as Granuloma annulare was treated with
topical steroids , not responded to therapy and later
developed a plaque over the left cheek involving the ala nasi
of nose which mimicked basal cell carcinoma. But on biopsy it
was found to be lupus vulgaris. This case is presented for
atypical manifestation of lupus vulgaris mimicking Granuloma
annulare, probably the first case report to our knowledge.
