A Rare Case Of Pial Arteriovenous Fistula:

Alamelu Mahalingham, Devimeenal J, Periy .

Abstract

Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a rare cerebrovascular lesion that has only recently been recognized as a distinct pathological entity. Pial Arteriovenous fistula will nearly always present with symptoms like recurrent severe head ache and neurological deficits. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are therefore critical in the management of these patients. Timely intervention prevents the mortality and saves life. Endovascular therapy has become a reliable  therapeutic procedure with high technical success and low periprocedural morbidity. This article presents a rare case of Pial Arteriovenous fistula which was successfully treated with two staged transcatheter coil emboilization technique with its follow up.
