Hypertrophic Lichen Planus Clinically Mimicking Discoid Lupus Erythematosus and its Association with Vitiligo- A Case Report of Blue Vitiligo
Abstract
Lichen planus (LP) is the prototype of lichenoid eruptions, was first described by Erasmus Wilson in 1869 and is characterized by purple, polygonal, pruritic, papular eruption of unknown etiology affecting skin that can also involve the mucous membranes, the nailsand histologically by a lymphocytic infiltrate with a band‐like distribution in the papillary dermis.
Hypertrophic lichen planus (Hypertrophic LP) is a subacute or chronic variant of lichen planus characterized by hypertrophic or warty lesions, most often found on the pretibial area of the lower limbs.1 Here we report a case of hypertrophic LP involving face and upper limbs clinically resembling DLE and associated with vitiligo.
