Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis:A Rare Disoder with a Rarer Incidence in Indian Population.

Sunitha S .

Abstract

Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is a rare,          inherited dermatological disorder characterized by unusual susceptibility to infection with specific human papilloma virus genotypes, resulting in both benign and malignant skin          lesions. The lesions are frequently described as flat wart-like papules , pityriasis versicolor like macules ,Verrucous or           seborrheic keratosis-like papules and plaques. Acquired EV is described in patients with HIV or on immunosuppressant  therapy. Only about 200 cases have been reported so far in the literature and it has been reported very infrequently from India. In this paper a female Indian patient with congenital EV with pityriasis versicolor like macules is reported.
