Birth Injury - Masking or unmasking underlying Hematological Disease

Sumitha Arun, Manish Kumar, Benjamin Ros .

Abstract

Birth injuries like subgaleal bleed, cephalhematoma or scalp laceration can occur following instrumental deliveries. We describe three cases where birth injury led to the early      diagnosis of haemophilia A and type 3 von willebrand disease in two newborn infants and a delay in the diagnosis of minor blood group incompatibility because of anti-E antibody in one.
