Vein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation- Case Report
Abstract
Vein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation (VGAM) is a rare congenital, cerebral, arteriovenous deformity with an incidence of 1:25000. The VGAM develops during the 6th to 11th weeks of gestation and can be diagnosed by prenatal ultrasound. We report a case of antenatally detected Vein of Galen Malformation at 28 weeks. The boy was delivered at term, by LSCS with the BW of 2750gm. Immediately after birth he presented with signs of severe CCF that was managed conservatively. CECT Brain confirmed the diagnosis. Despite ventilator support and anti – failure measures, the baby succumbed within few hours of life, due to the massive size of the aneurysm. We report the clinical presentation and management of a case of Vein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation and review of literature.
