An Interesting Case of Secondary Cardiac Tumor from Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Abstract

It is a case of secondary cardiac tumor involving right atrium and right ventricle from primary hepatocellular carcinoma. Many patients die of primary condition before presenting with cardiac secondary. A case of 36 year old male patient who was HBsAg positive presented with right atrial mass. Echocardiogram showed, there was a huge mass occupying entire right atrium extending into right ventricle through tricuspid valve. Mass was surgically removed. Microscopic analysis of specimen showed plenty of immature malignant cells with clear cells interspersed in between. Serum alpha feto protein levels elevated. CT-Abdomen showed, multiple nodular space occupying, variable attenuating lesions in liver. Secondary from liver to be suspected, whenever right atrial mass is made out, especially when pre disposing conditions like HBsAg positivity, alcoholism is present.
