Radiofrequency ablation of Idiopathic Left Ventricular Tachycardia - A case report

Bathrinarayanan R .

Abstract

Left ventricular tachycardia is a life threatening arrhythmia which may result in sudden death when associated with structural heart disease. On the other hand, idiopathic ventricular tachycardia occurring in structurally normal hearts carries a benign prognosis, of which idiopathic left ventricular tachycardia (ILVT) accounts for 1015. We present a typical case of ILVT in a 43 years old man who was referred as supraventricular tachycardia with aberrancy. After physical examination and investigations, patient was diagnosed to have ILVT. He was successfully treated with radiofrequency ablation to terminate ILVT and restore normal sinus rhythm. The patient remained asymptomatic without any recurrence of ventricular tachycardia for at least one year following the therapy.
