Abstract


Several studies have found that there is an association between childhood sexual abuse and evolution of emotionally unstable personality disorder (1). Known associations from western literature range from spurious anecdotal incidents, fantasy reports to sexual abuse and parental neglect being actual contributing factors to causality. This case series explores the relationship between childhood sexual abuse and the development of emotionally unstable personality feature while evaluating the moderating role of a primary social support from a randomly selected consenting adults and adolescents admitted as inpatients with a ICD 10 diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder in a tertiary care center in South India.
