Hair Dye Poisoning (Super Vasmol 33)

Abstract


Hair dye poisoning has been emerging as one of the important cause of intentional self harm in the developing world. The present report is aimed to find out the changes that made in a human to cause death. This case was admitted, treated and died in our hospital and subjected for post mortem examination. Post mortem examination reveal features of laryngeal edema, HistoPathological examination of Lung shows intra alveolar and interstitial hemorrhages and Kidney shows acute tubular necrosis. It has potent chemical substances like Para Phenylenediamine (PPD), Propylene glycol, Resorcinol and other chemicals which can cause Angioneurotic edema, severe Metabolic Acidosis, Rhabdomyolysis and Acute renal failure.
