Congenital Generalised Lipodystrophy – A Case Report

Abstract


Generalised lipodystrophy may be either congenital or acquired. Congenital generalised lipodystrophy, otherwise called Berardinelli-Seip syndrome is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.The characteristics of this condition are generalised loss of body fat, muscular hypertrophy,hypertrichosis, acanthosis nigricans, hepatic steatosis, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia and insulinresistance. A case of congenital generalised lipodystrophy is presented here.
